Best of Beauty 2013

Happy New Year you beautiful little buttercups! Wishing you all the best for 2014!
I thought I would share all the beauty products that I have discovered and loved in 2013. All of these are products that I use regularly

Face:
At the end of 2012 and during 2013 my skin was out of control. I had really severe acne and it was really difficult to cover up because it was very noticeable. Then I decided to ditch all the drugstore foundations and concealers and invested in something that actually cover them up. I decided to try Clinique's Anti-Blemish Solutions Concealer and their Liquid Foundation. omg, best decision I've ever made because the concealer was full coverage and covered up all the dark spots from my acne and the foundation evened out my skin tone and added more coverage. Towards the end of 2013, my skin has cleared up however I still have dark scars on my face which I need to cover up so I found the L'oreal True Match Concealer which covers them all pretty well and I use the Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation on top to even out my face. I use this foundation every time I go to work because it's very light and then I top it off with the Boujois Healthy Balance Unifying powder. I only work at a supermarket so I don't have to worry to much about covering up everything.

Eyes:
The Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara is my absolute favourite mascara and was discovered in my mum's makeup bag. It's the only mascara that gives me both volume and length as well as being waterproof and not hurting my eyeballs when I've had it on all day. Also in 2013 I got my first MAC eyeshadow and it was "Naked Lunch" and I couldn't have picked out a better colour to start out with .I wear it every time I go out during the day because it's such a subtle pink and looks so natural.

Lips and Nails:
My lips have gone through the worst in 2013. They have been extremely dry and gross so I've had to put my lipsticks back on the shelf and invest in some lustrous lip balms, glosses and lip butters. I found the Maybelline Color Whipsers {colour shown is "pink possiblilities"} and I love the whole collection. It's perfect for when I go out because they moisturise my lips whilst giving some colour. The same thing applies to the Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm {"pink blossom"}, it gives a more natural look compared to the Color Whispers. 2013 has been the year where I have always had my nails painted and the colour that I have been wearing the most is "Misty Jade" from the I Love Lasting Finish by Rimmel which is a bright tiffany blue sort of colour.

What have been your favourite products of 2013?

December Beauty Wish List

It's the beginning of the month and Christmas is just around the corner. I thought I would share some beauty/ hair products that I have been lusting over in November which has carried through into December.

December beauty wishlist

{1} Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: As soon as the announcement of this bad boy came out, I instantly knew that I wanted it in my life. This rosy palette has been well received from a lot of beauty bloggers and from the swatches that I have seen, the colours are so natural for being such a different palette from the others.

{2} EOS Limited Edition Passion Fruit Smooth Sphere Lip Balm: WOW that was a mouthful. Everyone loves these lip balms and we don't have them here in Australia and I really want to try it out.

{3} Marc Jacobs Dot Fragrance: I sprayed it at the shops with my mum one time and it smelled amazing - more fruitier than Marc Jacobs Daisy. Plus the bottle has a lady bug pattern on it which is really cute.

{4} VS Sassoon Ultimate Retra-Cord Multi Curls VSP3029A: I normally use a curling iron to curl my hair but my hair is so lifeless and the curl drops quickly even if I use hair products in it. I was getting my hair done for a wedding and the lady decided to use rollers and I was so surprised on how long they held the curl so I thought I need to invest in one of these.

{5} Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine {Colour: Pink In Paris}: I was watching some YSL Lipstick collection videos on youtube and one girl swatched "Pink In Paris" and its such a pretty rose pink colour.

What's on your wish list at the moment?

Review: Chi Chi Glamorous Eyes Bronzes Palette

Hi everyone!

Today I thought I would do a review on one of my absolute favourite products in my make up collection which is the Chi Chi Glamourous Eyes "Bronzes" Palette. My cousin bought this for me for my birthday one year and I have loved it ever since. There are 8 palettes in the Glamour Eyes Collection which include Classics, Brights, Sultry and the very popular Nudes which happens to be a perfect dupe for Urban Decays Naked Palette.

The packaging of the palette is very simple, with metallic writing on a clear lid keeping the focus on the shadows. The case is very lightweight, feeling a bit cheap and not sturdy as I would like it to be. It comes with 2 foam eyeshadow applicators which is not really my cup of tea however, they do pick up quite a lot of the product with one swipe.

The Glamourous Eyes Bronze Palette contains 12 shades which can be used to create various smokey eye looks. The eyeshadows themselves all have a bit of shimmer to them - not one is a matte shadow- and I find that some shades are not as pigmented as others but they are the colours that I don't really use so it doesn't really matter to me. In my experience of using this palette, they are easy to apply and blend out and I never get home with fall out under my eyes or on my cheeks which is fantastic for a cheaper brand on the market.

SWATCHES

The Glamourous Eyes Palettes cost $22.95AUD and can be found at Target and Myer.
Overall, I'm very impressed with this eyeshadow palette and it will have to do until I can save up to get an Urban Decay Naked Palette. If the pigmentation of the Chi Chi shadows in the "Nudes" palette is anything like this one, I think I definitely will be buying that one as well.

Have you tried anything from Chi Chi?

Priceline Haul

A couple of weeks ago, I went on another spontaneous trip to priceline and picked up some goodies that I am rather happy about. Some products I bought were on special at the time, some were an in the moment kind of buy and some were ones that I felt that I needed. I'm not going to lie when I say I spent well over 45 minutes just standing with my basket swatching almost everything I could get my hands on.

From Left to Right:
Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Laquer { Celestial},
Essie Nail Laquer {Sole Mate}
Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara
Essie Nail Laquer {Fishnet Stockings}
Real Techniques Blush Brush
Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Volumising Mascara
Max Factor Wild Shadow Pot {Savage Rose}
Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy {Galactic}
Essence Studio Nails Ultra Strong Nail Harder.

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Laquer {Celestial}
It's no secret that everyone has one of these bad boys in their lipstick collection. Although all the colours are really nice, I decided on "Celestial" because I had seen some bloggers that have the same skin tones as me swatch it and I thought it looked amazing!

Essie Nail Laquer {Sole Mate | Fishnet Stockings}
When I went to priceline not long ago, they had a sale on Essie Nail polishes 2 for $20AUD which I thought was the most amazing thing in the world. I'm not sure if that sale is still going on but is it worth giving your local priceline a quick look to see. I know its spring blah blah blah but as soon as I saw these berry toned polishes, I knew that I wanted them! Perfect for fall!

Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara
A friend got this in one of her trips to priceline so I thought I would give it a go to keep my eyebrows in place! I have never even head of clear mascara until when I picked this up so I was really intrigued to try this out.

Real Techniques Blush Brush
Every beauty blogger either knows about the brushes by Real Techniques or owns most of them. Basically I needed a blush brush and this was one I knew would be good quality.

Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Volumising Mascara & Wild Shadow Pot {Savage Rose}
I can't remember exactly why I got these, but I think it was because it was a special for 2 for $20 out of the new range. Either way, I'm excited to try out both of these products.

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy {Galactic}
First, I was drawn in by the stand that had all the different colours laying on it's side. Then the sparkles! It's exactly the type of nail colours that I would normally go for and I am extra excited to review this soon, so keep yo eyes peeled.

Essence Studio Nails Ultra Strong Nail Hardner
This was a product that I needed to get because my nails are peeling and chipping like no tomorrow. I haven't tried this out yet because I have just been wearing normal nail polishes all the time, So hopefully it does it's job.

And thats all the things that I got from Priceline a couple of weeks ago.
Has their been any products that you have seen in Priceline that have stood out to you?
Have a lovely day!

Top 5 Spring Lipsticks

Today I thought I would share my favourite 5 lipsticks that I like to wear in the spring time. It's this season of year that I like to steer towards the lighter shades of lipsticks in my collection and find myself reaching for these lipsticks over and over again.

1. Rimmel London Lasting Finish {Pink Blush}
2. Maybelline Color Whisper {Petal Rebel}
3. Maybelline Color Sensational {Ice Tea}
4. Maybelline Color Sensational {Born with It}
5. Maybelline Color Whisper {Orange Attitude}

Wowza, I didn't realize that all my favourites at the moment are Maybelline {This ISN'T a sponsored post, I just genuinely love the brand of lipsticks at the moment}. They are moisturising enough for my semi-chapped lips that need a lil boost of colour and I am loving lipsticks that have a lustre finish at the moment!

What are your favourite lipsticks for spring?

October Favourites 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful October and enjoyed getting into the halloween spirit. I can't even believe that it's November already like where did the time fly?! Nothing extra interesting happened in the month of October for me which is kind of sad {I was probably recovering after the one direction concert I went to in September}. And I was super bummed out that I didn't get the chance to try out any "new" beauty products because I was trying to save my money, nonetheless I recovered some oldies and discovered a couple of newbies that I have been using and loving in the month of October.

Vineyard Peach Body Butter
I nearly forgot that I had this body butter in my collection but it has always been my favourite. It smells like fresh peaches and boy does it make me hungry because it smells SO good! I usually use it on my arms and legs and it sinks in so quickly, hydrates them and leaves them so smooth. I was so devo when I found out that it was a limited edition body butter and is not sold anymore! :'(

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
I have been using this mascara everyday this month because it gives my short, stubby lashes a nice lift {with the help of Mr eyelash curler}. It's also waterproof which is fantastic because I don't get home after work looking like a racoon.

Australis Eyeshadow Primer
I have been using this eyeshadow primer ever since I got it {First haul here} and have been loving it. It makes my eyeshadows stay in place all night which is it's main purpose. Definitely loving this one.

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm {Pink Blossom}
I have always loved Burt's Bees lip balms and I decided to try the tinted lip balm. They give a nice pigmented colour which is build-able which is perfect for adding a little colour to the face without going overboard in heavy lipsticks. Love it!

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes
These towelettes remove dirt, sweat and make up AND they smell like cucumbers! They are also Oil-free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic which is wonderful for my acne prone skin. What I like about these face wipes are that they actually get all my makeup off so easily leaving it feel fresh.

And these are my favourite beauty products for the month of October. What were your beauty favourites?

Beauty Wish list #1

There are many cosmetic products that I wanted on my wish list but I managed to narrow it down to my top 5 beauty products that ended up overcoming them all.
Created with Polyvore

{1} Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: It's no secret that this is on my wish list! Everyone and everyone they know either owns one or desperately wants the Naked palette in their life. I specifically want the naked 2 palette because I feel like the colours are more natural which is the look I like best. Also, I want to see what all the hype is about as well as be able to achieve the looks that beauty gurus do on youtube because they always seem to use this palette for nearly every tutorial.

{2} Bourjois Delice De Poudre Bronzing Powder: I rarely use bronzer but I don't care, I just want this in my collection. The bronzer is separated into four little squares which ends up looking like a chocolate bar which I think is super cute. I have heard a lot of people rave about this bronzer and that just makes me want this in my life.

{3} Benefit They're Real! Mascara: Again, another product that literally everyone has raved about and all I have heard is positive reviews! I have quite short eyelashes and I would love to give this mascara a try to see if they live up to my expectations.

{4} Benefit Fine One One: I absolutely LOVE the watermelon and coral colours!! Apparently it's a lip colour as well as a highlighter, blush and contour which is really interesting because I love things that have more than one purpose because it makes me feel like the product is worth the money that I spent.

{5} Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: A lot of beauty bloggers have talked about this product and I feel like I want to try this out for myself! Also, the packaging totally won me over because it looks like something to do with magic {how exciting!}.

And thats the top 5 beauty products on my wish list for now. What are your top 5 beauty products that you want in your collection? Let me know in the comments below.

Australis Haul

Hi everyone!
So, the other day I had the most random urge to visit Priceline Pharmacy to check out all their cosmetics which are currently on sale because its September in Australia which means "30 Days of Fashion and Beauty" is underway!

Im not going to lie when I said that I had no idea what I wanted to buy, I kind of just walked around and looked at everything until I saw something that caught my eye! As I walked past the Australis display I remembered that I have never actually given the Australian cosmetic brand a try and decided to look through their range.

And as if its pink and black colour scheme on the packaging hadn't won me over already, the fact that they had products that none of the other displays had, just made me want to buy everything. For example, I didn't see any types of setting sprays in other make up displays until I got to the Australis stand.

I have never used Australis before and I bought these products in the spare of the moment so I'm not 100% sure if they do their duties to the best of their ability! I only bought these products because I didn't own similar products at home.

From left to right: Eyeshadow Primer, Lip Treatment Trio,  Colour Corrector - green, Matte Me - Lipstick Mattifying Base, Make-up Finishing Spritz and Conceal Correct 4-In-1 Palette.

So these are the products I ended up getting!

{1} Eyeshadow Primer: Normally my eyeshadows don't last all day and I have been on the hunt for an eyeshadow primer and this was the first one that I saw that was in my price range. I have tried this product already and it literally just glides onto your eyelid.

{2} Lip treatment Trio: I think they had a special offer because I ended up getting this product as a freebie! It has three different sections - the green is an exfoliator, the white is a moisturiser and the pink is a gloss! I think its a good concept and it smells like lemonade which is a bonus.

{3} Colour Corrector: I got this product because its supposed to reduce the redness of blemishes and uneven skin tone. I have tried different green concealers before but they have all been a creamy texture, and I decided to give this one a go because it is a liquid concealer.

{4} Matte Me - Lipstick Mattifying Base: There have been many times where I want to wear matte lipstick and end up being disappointed because they don't end up lasting as long as I want them to. I got this so that my lipstick will last longer as well as enhance the colour.

{5} Make-up Finishing Spritz: I have always wanted a setting spray so that my make up can last longer all day and I'm glad that I found this because it is infused with aloe vera and rose water and smells absolutely amazing.

{6} 4 - In - 1 Concealer Corrector Palette: This concealer palette is compact which is really good because you can take it anywhere. It has four shades - purple to hide dark circles, green to cover up redness, and two skin tones concealers to even out skin tone.

And thats it, I hope you enjoyed my first haul!
Let me know your thoughts on Australis cosmetics.
Have a lovely day!

Melissa
