Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Let's be real, as soon as the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette was released I knew I needed it my life. I tried to hold off buying it as long as I could but when I started seeing this palette flourish in the beauty community, I knew that I had to get it. I read a lot of mixed reviews but that didn't phase me {no, no}, this rosy-hued palette caught my eyes and stole my heart from first glance and no beauty blog was gonna stop me from buying this palette.

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette contains a variety of matte, shimmer and satin shades with the shimmers dominating most of the palette. I know shimmer shades are hit or miss with people, but I actually don't mind the shimmer with this palette as the colours are so gorgeous. I find all the shades wearable and neutral with half of the palette being more pink-toned and the other half being more on the darker side to complement other shades.

Like the other Urban Decay Naked Palettes, the eyeshadows are incredibly easy to wear and blends like a dream. I am so happy that the quality lived up to my expectations and I also love the fact that this palette gives off a more elegant vibe than the other Naked Palettes. I don't know what it is but the Naked 3 Palette feels more classier? {just me?}. The hard case packaging is similar to Naked 2 which I like because it makes it easier to keep clean and can survive being dropped all over the counter and floor. 

Out of all the Naked palettes, I think the naked 3 is my favourite one! The rosy hues just make my heart sing and I find that I can create different looks more easier than the others Naked Palettes. Personally, I would have preferred one more dark matte for defining the crease but other than that, I absolutely love this palette and I would recommend it to anyone that loves and suits rosy toned shadows.

Urban Decay Naked Basics

After testing out the Original Urban Decay Naked Palette for a good while, I thought it was time to try another Urban Decay Product that I bought not long ago. Rather than going straight to the Naked 2 Palette, I jumped right on the Naked Basics Palette because I thought the original Naked Palette was lacking in some matte shades and I wanted to try something a little bit different.

The Naked Basics Palette contains six shades in total with five mattes, and one satin-type shade. The satin shade is there to be used as highlight on the brow bone as well as in the inner corner of the eye. Personally, I think that there are way too many lighter shades in this palette and I would have preferred one more medium to dark shade.

All the shadows have good pigmentation even though in they don't come up that great in the picture above {sorry, crappy lighting}. I was very surprised at how creamy, soft and easy they were to blend for a matte eye shadow because normally the eyeshadows I use seem quite chalky and hard to blend. I always use an eyeshadow primer underneath the shadows and have never experienced any fall out or creasing.

I am also impressed with how versatile this palette is. It's perfect to take travelling because it's small, lightweight and you have the basic shades needed for any look- whats not to love? All the colours work together so well so you can create a simple, natural day look and instantly turn it into a dark night time look.

Overall, it's a perfect palette for those who are not into the shimmer scene or people who want to mix up their normal everyday eye makeup. I wasn't disappointed with the quality of the eyeshadows and I'm sure this palette will be a favourite of mine for a while.

January Favourites 2014

Can you believe that one whole month of the year is gone?! ONE WHOLE MONTH! January went too quick for my liking and now here I am picking out some of the beauty products that I have been giving extra love to this month.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

I bought this ages ago but never really found the need to use it but I rediscovered it in January and it is a life saver. The weather has been all over the place with a lot of hot and muggy days and I find that in the morning my hair looks a bit gross so I use this dry shampoo to make my hair look fresh and it adds a little bit of volume which is great. I think it smells really good - nice and clean and there are a whole bunch of different fragrances to suit everyone.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Serum

I use the tiniest amount on the ends of my hair after I have washed it so it reduces the amount of fly-aways and frizz when it's drying. I think it does a pretty good job at keeping my hair tame and I use it alongside with the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Shampoo and Conditioner and I think it works like a charm.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Even though in nearly every January Favourites post the Naked 3 Palette has made an appearance, I decided to go with the original because I bought it in January and have been loving it ever since. You can create so many different types of natural to sultry, sophisticated looks. Love, love, love it!

NYX Powder Blush

This blush is in the shade "Dusty Rose" and I really like this blush because it's not overpowering on my cheeks. I think it lasts a pretty long time and it's a really nice natural colour. I like the soft texture it has and I think I might get another colour from the range soon. Which one would you recommend?

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

I have been obsessed with this Lip Butter from Revlon in the shade "Tutti Fruitti". I have been wearing this a lot in January because it's such a lovely bright summery shade. Although the lip butter feels heavy on the lips, it lasts a long time which is what I like in a balmy type lip colour.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Every beauty enthusiast and her mother knows about or owns the Naked Palette. I bought a whole bunch of Urban Decay products not too long ago and it's about time that I share my thoughts on this palette after having a bit of a play with it.

The packaging on the product is really unique but I personally don't like the velvety feel on the case because it is hard to clean if you spill your other makeup on it. I don't think that the packaging is practical enough with just magnets on the flap lid but that doesn't bug me too much because I know that I won't travel with this palette.

Inside is a really clear mirror on the lid which is really practical and it also comes with a Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush which made me really happy because I would have been disappointed if this gorgeous palette came with those silly little applicators that no one likes. The brush itself is really dense and feels like good quality and I think it picks up quite a bit of product from the pan unless the shadow itself is less pigmented than other shades. I use this brush to pat my eyeshadows on before blending it all out and I think it can even be used as a concealer brush.

The palette consists of 12 "bronze-hued"shades that can be paired in any combination ranging from a natural to sultry look. There are more shimmery type shades than matte shades in this palette which is a little disappointing but other products such as the Urban Decay Basics Palette is FULL of mattes which I love, makes up for that. The shimmer shades are super pigmented and I fount that when I was swatching, some of the mattes weren't as pigmented and creamy as I would have liked them to be.

I didn't experience that much fall out, but I would just recommend using a primer underneath. Which is lucky because the Naked Palette comes with a sample size Urban Decay Primer Potion which is fantastic for those who want to try out this product but don't want to spend too much moolah. If you use the shadows with a primer the colour stands out more and the mattes have more colour pay-off.

All photos were taken with natural light and no photo editing has been done. For each swatch I swiped once up and down in the pan and swiped once on my arm that had no primer or foundation. I think that this way you can see it's "true" colour.

During the day I like to wear "Virgin" on the inner corner of the lid and on the brow bone as a highlight, "Naked"on the lid and "Buck" in the crease and sometimes "Hustle" in the outer V to define my lid. The only issue I have is that I don't use all the colours. I rarely use dark, smokey colours on my eyes and I find that I don't really have a use for "Creep" and "Gunmetal". I might in the future.. but for now, not so much.

I do think that the Naked Palette is well worth the hype. The texture and pigmentation on these shadows are such good quality and it shows through how they apply and last. You can really create so many different looks due to the range of light to dark shadows. I do love this palette and I have high expectations for the other Naked Palettes by Urban Decay.

HUGE Urban Decay Haul

Following the beauty world for quite some time now I have always wanted products from Urban Decay but I didn't want to pay a fortune to get it shipped over to Australia. So I decided to bite the bullet and place a HUGE order at Tarazz towards the end of last year and it was delivered just before I went away. I didn't want to go too crazy and get lipsticks and eyeliners as well, I just wanted Urban Decays most popular products {with the exception of the Naked 3 Palette because it wasn't available at the time}.

I was originally going to get just the Naked 2 palette because the shadows are more natural looking but then I thought about making the price of the shipping worth it so I got the original Naked palette as well because they differ in colours. Plus a lot of people have some great tutorials on Youtube with the original Naked palette which I have always wanted to try. The original Naked palette came with a sample size Eyeshadow Primer Potion which I forgot about when placing my order which was silly of me because I bought the full size Eyeshadow Primer Potion to try out. The Naked 2 palette came with a little sample size Lip Junkie lipgloss which I thought was a cute touch.

But no I couldn't stop at just the Naked 1 and 2 palettes, I had to get the Naked Basics which has 6 neutral matte eyeshadows that a perfect for everyday and travelling. And then I decided to also buy the Naked Flushed which is a bronzer, blush and highlighter all in one cute compact case.

I'm very happy with what I bought and I definitely will be doing some reviews in the future so keep an eye out for them on my blog.

December Beauty Wish List

It's the beginning of the month and Christmas is just around the corner. I thought I would share some beauty/ hair products that I have been lusting over in November which has carried through into December.

{1} Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: As soon as the announcement of this bad boy came out, I instantly knew that I wanted it in my life. This rosy palette has been well received from a lot of beauty bloggers and from the swatches that I have seen, the colours are so natural for being such a different palette from the others.

{2} EOS Limited Edition Passion Fruit Smooth Sphere Lip Balm: WOW that was a mouthful. Everyone loves these lip balms and we don't have them here in Australia and I really want to try it out.

{3} Marc Jacobs Dot Fragrance: I sprayed it at the shops with my mum one time and it smelled amazing - more fruitier than Marc Jacobs Daisy. Plus the bottle has a lady bug pattern on it which is really cute.

{4} VS Sassoon Ultimate Retra-Cord Multi Curls VSP3029A: I normally use a curling iron to curl my hair but my hair is so lifeless and the curl drops quickly even if I use hair products in it. I was getting my hair done for a wedding and the lady decided to use rollers and I was so surprised on how long they held the curl so I thought I need to invest in one of these.

{5} Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine {Colour: Pink In Paris}: I was watching some YSL Lipstick collection videos on youtube and one girl swatched "Pink In Paris" and its such a pretty rose pink colour.
