Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Reto Glam Mascara

Last year I mentioned in a favourites post that I was going to do a review on the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara and I just kept putting it off because the mascara and I had a love-hate relationship going on. It was always on my mind to write this post and after having such a long time to test the product out, I thought it was time to give a review.

The mascara tube is black with white circles which is so retro and ties in well with the product and what it's designed for. The only thing about most of the Rimmel Mascaras is that I find them unnecessarily big and bulky and the lid is way difficult to hold because is is wide and short.

The Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara separates, lengthens and gives volume to create a 60's wide-eye effect. The brush is in a hourglass shape which is designed to coat all your lashes in one coat without any clumps. I do feel like it does get all my lashes when I wiggle the wand through them the first time. I find it easy to get an even application and apply extra coats if necessary. I normally just do one coat because I can see a big difference from my normal lashes with the first coat but there is a small issue with this mascara clumping if you're not careful.

"With" is with ONE coat of Mascara

Towards the end of the day it does smudge all over the place because it isn't waterproof however there is another Retro Glam Mascara on the market which is waterproof and I wish I was aware of it at the time I bought mine. I understand this mascara won't be everyones cup of tea and even I dislike it sometimes because it irritates the crap out my eyes. Unfortunately I will not repurchase this product in the future because of that reason but I might try the waterproof one out and see if it's any different.

Have you tried the Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara?
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Valentines Day Beauty Picks

With Valentines Day right around the corner I thought I would share some of the products that I am considering to use to create a simple and sweet makeup look. As it is Valentines Day of course a lot of the products will be pink {oui so girly} I was considering throwing in some reds but I think pink is much more natural and suits the looks I'm going for.

Eyes:
For eyes, I'm going to keep it very simple with this MAC Eyeshadow Quad in "Showstopper" which is  really lovely on. Obviously with a quad you can create many different combinations but I'm just going to use all of them and add winged eyeliner and then mascara. If you're more daring, I would suggest deepening the crease with the darker shade and adding more sparkle, voilĂ .

Cheeks:
Another way to incorporate pink into a look is by lightly applying pink blush. I didn't want to go crazy with dark pink blushes so I picked a couple that are sheer but build-able to create a fresh and subtle feel. One of my picks is the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush which has a variety of colours that you swirl around to create one glowing colour on your cheeks. The other is the Benefit's Boxed Blush in Dandelion which is the perfect ballerina pink shade to really give natural colour to the face.

Lips:
This is the fun and yet really frustrating part because I have so many different shades of pink lipsticks, lip glosses, etc. that it seems impossible to choose just one. That's why I narrowed it down to some of the lip products that I think would complete this look. The first being a MAC lipstick in "Sweetie" which is a Lustre finish and it's sheer and gives a nice sheen. The second is a Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in "Celestial" which is a dusty rose colour and is my favourite out of the whole Apocalips range. The third is a Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in "Born with it" which is a sheer light pink lipstick which is perfect for a simple Valentines Day look.

And these are some of the products that will be gracing my face this Valentines Day.
What are your picks for Valentines Day?

Best of Beauty 2013

Happy New Year you beautiful little buttercups! Wishing you all the best for 2014!
I thought I would share all the beauty products that I have discovered and loved in 2013. All of these are products that I use regularly

Face:
At the end of 2012 and during 2013 my skin was out of control. I had really severe acne and it was really difficult to cover up because it was very noticeable. Then I decided to ditch all the drugstore foundations and concealers and invested in something that actually cover them up. I decided to try Clinique's Anti-Blemish Solutions Concealer and their Liquid Foundation. omg, best decision I've ever made because the concealer was full coverage and covered up all the dark spots from my acne and the foundation evened out my skin tone and added more coverage. Towards the end of 2013, my skin has cleared up however I still have dark scars on my face which I need to cover up so I found the L'oreal True Match Concealer which covers them all pretty well and I use the Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation on top to even out my face. I use this foundation every time I go to work because it's very light and then I top it off with the Boujois Healthy Balance Unifying powder. I only work at a supermarket so I don't have to worry to much about covering up everything.

Eyes:
The Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara is my absolute favourite mascara and was discovered in my mum's makeup bag. It's the only mascara that gives me both volume and length as well as being waterproof and not hurting my eyeballs when I've had it on all day. Also in 2013 I got my first MAC eyeshadow and it was "Naked Lunch" and I couldn't have picked out a better colour to start out with .I wear it every time I go out during the day because it's such a subtle pink and looks so natural.

Lips and Nails:
My lips have gone through the worst in 2013. They have been extremely dry and gross so I've had to put my lipsticks back on the shelf and invest in some lustrous lip balms, glosses and lip butters. I found the Maybelline Color Whipsers {colour shown is "pink possiblilities"} and I love the whole collection. It's perfect for when I go out because they moisturise my lips whilst giving some colour. The same thing applies to the Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm {"pink blossom"}, it gives a more natural look compared to the Color Whispers. 2013 has been the year where I have always had my nails painted and the colour that I have been wearing the most is "Misty Jade" from the I Love Lasting Finish by Rimmel which is a bright tiffany blue sort of colour.

What have been your favourite products of 2013?

Rimmel London Apocalips Review and Swatches

It's no secret that these lip lacquers are well loved at the moment and I thought I would share my thoughts on them. I own 4 different shades out of a possible 8 and so far I would say that I'm pretty impressed with them. For those who don't know {me before I did research} a lip lacquer gives the colour of a lipstick but has a similar texture and finish to a gloss.

First off, I am in love with the packaging. It's predominately black and then fades to the colour of the actual shade you bought which is great when you quickly need to grab the colour you want as you run out the door. It has silver font thats easy to read however I would have loved it even more if the name of the shade was in silver too, not just on the barcode sticker. The lid has this cool diamond cut looking tip which makes the packaging look sleek and sophisticated.

At first I thought the texture looked a bit too runny but when applied to the lips, I found that it glided on smoothly and the pigmentation was brilliant. One swipe was BAM! IN YO FACE and the intensity of the colour didn't fade or sink into the lips like most lip products. The lip applicator was a little bendy at the tip which hugs your lips as you apply the lacquer which I thought was really helpful considering how pigmented it is.

The only problem that I had with this lip lacquer was that it transfers off on other things so easily omg. After applying, it just sort of slid off my lips a little. HOWEVER there might be a solution! Instead of using the lip applicator you can use a lip brush or your ring finger for a lighter layer of the lacquer which might help stop the colour from bleeding. Alternatively, you could use a lip liner.

It does feel very creamy but I found that because I have chapped lips that the lacquer sort of amplified that {not cute}. So make sure to prep your lips before using this product. If you have dry chapped lips lightly exfoliate your lips with a gentle lip scrub and swipe some clear moisturising lip balm so they are nice and smooth when you apply the lip lacquer.

100 Phenomenon
A milky nude beige. Out of all of the shades I own, I dislike this one the most. I don't know if it's me or the lacquer but I always have a hard time putting on this colour. It sinks into fine lines and doesn't spread evenly on my lips.

101 Celestial
A dusty rose colour. This is my favourite out of all the shades because the colour isn't too strong so it's perfect for a casual day out.

303 Apocaliptic
A bright fuchsia pink colour which has blue undertones. This colour is absolutely gorgeous and it's the sort of colour that I would wear out at night.

501 Stellar
When I first bought this shade I thought it was a bright neon red colour but it seems to have a touch of coral. I still love it either way.

All the colours are fun and outgoing, they range from subtle nudes to vibrant bright shades - something for everyone. My favourite is "Celestial" because it's a nice simple colour that can be worn everyday.The lasting power of the bright colours was about 2 to 3 hours {with light eating} and the lasting power of the nude colour was less - about one hour {which is a little disappointing}.

Overall, I do like this product and I think I will get a lot of use out of them in the future. The colour selection is great and they are reasonably priced at $12.75 each at Priceline.

What's your favourite shade from the Apocalips range?

Priceline Haul

A couple of weeks ago, I went on another spontaneous trip to priceline and picked up some goodies that I am rather happy about. Some products I bought were on special at the time, some were an in the moment kind of buy and some were ones that I felt that I needed. I'm not going to lie when I say I spent well over 45 minutes just standing with my basket swatching almost everything I could get my hands on.

From Left to Right:
Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Laquer { Celestial},
Essie Nail Laquer {Sole Mate}
Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara
Essie Nail Laquer {Fishnet Stockings}
Real Techniques Blush Brush
Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Volumising Mascara
Max Factor Wild Shadow Pot {Savage Rose}
Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy {Galactic}
Essence Studio Nails Ultra Strong Nail Harder.

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Laquer {Celestial}
It's no secret that everyone has one of these bad boys in their lipstick collection. Although all the colours are really nice, I decided on "Celestial" because I had seen some bloggers that have the same skin tones as me swatch it and I thought it looked amazing!

Essie Nail Laquer {Sole Mate | Fishnet Stockings}
When I went to priceline not long ago, they had a sale on Essie Nail polishes 2 for $20AUD which I thought was the most amazing thing in the world. I'm not sure if that sale is still going on but is it worth giving your local priceline a quick look to see. I know its spring blah blah blah but as soon as I saw these berry toned polishes, I knew that I wanted them! Perfect for fall!

Essence Lash and Brow Gel Mascara
A friend got this in one of her trips to priceline so I thought I would give it a go to keep my eyebrows in place! I have never even head of clear mascara until when I picked this up so I was really intrigued to try this out.

Real Techniques Blush Brush
Every beauty blogger either knows about the brushes by Real Techniques or owns most of them. Basically I needed a blush brush and this was one I knew would be good quality.

Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Volumising Mascara & Wild Shadow Pot {Savage Rose}
I can't remember exactly why I got these, but I think it was because it was a special for 2 for $20 out of the new range. Either way, I'm excited to try out both of these products.

Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy {Galactic}
First, I was drawn in by the stand that had all the different colours laying on it's side. Then the sparkles! It's exactly the type of nail colours that I would normally go for and I am extra excited to review this soon, so keep yo eyes peeled.

Essence Studio Nails Ultra Strong Nail Hardner
This was a product that I needed to get because my nails are peeling and chipping like no tomorrow. I haven't tried this out yet because I have just been wearing normal nail polishes all the time, So hopefully it does it's job.

And thats all the things that I got from Priceline a couple of weeks ago.
Has their been any products that you have seen in Priceline that have stood out to you?
Have a lovely day!

Top 5 Spring Lipsticks

Today I thought I would share my favourite 5 lipsticks that I like to wear in the spring time. It's this season of year that I like to steer towards the lighter shades of lipsticks in my collection and find myself reaching for these lipsticks over and over again.

1. Rimmel London Lasting Finish {Pink Blush}
2. Maybelline Color Whisper {Petal Rebel}
3. Maybelline Color Sensational {Ice Tea}
4. Maybelline Color Sensational {Born with It}
5. Maybelline Color Whisper {Orange Attitude}

Wowza, I didn't realize that all my favourites at the moment are Maybelline {This ISN'T a sponsored post, I just genuinely love the brand of lipsticks at the moment}. They are moisturising enough for my semi-chapped lips that need a lil boost of colour and I am loving lipsticks that have a lustre finish at the moment!

What are your favourite lipsticks for spring?
