Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel: Marmalade

I picked up this Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in "Marmalade" as apart of a collective haul and I really have been loving this nail colour. It's no secret that orange has been my go to colour in summer but let's be real, I have a thing for anything that's burn't orange - heck in 2012 my ball dress was this colour and ever since then my love for orange has stayed strong. Also the colour orange is such a good transitional colour between summer and autumn.

This is the first time I have used Revlon Colorstay Nail Polishes and here are my thoughts. The bottle is cute, it has a longer handle which is fantastic because there's no fiddly business going on. On first glance the brush looks similar to a normal brush but if you look close the brush is flat with a slight curve which makes applying the nail polish so much more easier.

The first coat is quite streaky and a second coat is still see through in my opinion so I use three coats along with a base and top coat. It does take a little longer to dry which is a bummer because I always end up smudging it all over the place within the first couple of minutes. The lasting power lasted about 3-4 days which is really good for me as I always end up chipping it the next day. So I really like this nail polish!

I would love to know your favourite nail polish colour for summer!

O.P.I Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies

This O.P.I. set called the Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies is another collection O.P.I has launched with taking inspiration from one of the most popular disney cartoon characters - Minnie Mouse. I received this set for Christmas last year from my mum as she knew that I wanted it as it is disney related {anyone a disney fan?} and the colours are so lovely. I have never really dabbled too much in O.P.I. nail polishes because they are quiet expensive so all the ones I do own were all gifted to me by friends and family and I really do enjoy them.

The set came with four mini O.P.I. bottles which are 3.75ml each and I can't even describe how cute these bottles are. What I really love about this set is that because the bottles are so small, you can sample colours that you are interested in and decided whether you like it and if you want to commit to a full size bottle.

Now the fun stuff, the colours! There is a mixture of pinks and reds which ties in with the Minnie Mouse colour scheme so well.

"A Definite Moust-Have" is a bright fuschia creme

"Magazine Cover Mouse" is a berry toned liquid sand formula

"Chic from Ears to Tail" is a bubblegum pink creme

"Innie Minnie Mighty Bow" is a crimson pearl

I do love all the shades as they are all very bold and classic. I was a little disappointed with "Chic from Ears to Tail" because it was so sheer that I had to apply maybe 4ish coats to get it opaque but it is such a nice colour that I don't mind. I have never tried O.P.I.'s liquid sand formula before so I was really eager to try "Magazine Cover Mouse"and I really like it even though some days I like to use a top coat over it to make it smooth and shiny.

Overall the Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies was a major hit in my books. Good quality nail polish mixed with a little disney what more could you want? My mum bought it from Myre however I'm not sure of which stores that still stock it but it wouldn't hurt to have a look next time you're there.

What's your favourite collection from O.P.I?

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Every beauty enthusiast and her mother knows about or owns the Naked Palette. I bought a whole bunch of Urban Decay products not too long ago and it's about time that I share my thoughts on this palette after having a bit of a play with it.

The packaging on the product is really unique but I personally don't like the velvety feel on the case because it is hard to clean if you spill your other makeup on it. I don't think that the packaging is practical enough with just magnets on the flap lid but that doesn't bug me too much because I know that I won't travel with this palette.

Inside is a really clear mirror on the lid which is really practical and it also comes with a Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush which made me really happy because I would have been disappointed if this gorgeous palette came with those silly little applicators that no one likes. The brush itself is really dense and feels like good quality and I think it picks up quite a bit of product from the pan unless the shadow itself is less pigmented than other shades. I use this brush to pat my eyeshadows on before blending it all out and I think it can even be used as a concealer brush.

The palette consists of 12 "bronze-hued"shades that can be paired in any combination ranging from a natural to sultry look. There are more shimmery type shades than matte shades in this palette which is a little disappointing but other products such as the Urban Decay Basics Palette is FULL of mattes which I love, makes up for that. The shimmer shades are super pigmented and I fount that when I was swatching, some of the mattes weren't as pigmented and creamy as I would have liked them to be.

I didn't experience that much fall out, but I would just recommend using a primer underneath. Which is lucky because the Naked Palette comes with a sample size Urban Decay Primer Potion which is fantastic for those who want to try out this product but don't want to spend too much moolah. If you use the shadows with a primer the colour stands out more and the mattes have more colour pay-off.

All photos were taken with natural light and no photo editing has been done. For each swatch I swiped once up and down in the pan and swiped once on my arm that had no primer or foundation. I think that this way you can see it's "true" colour.

During the day I like to wear "Virgin" on the inner corner of the lid and on the brow bone as a highlight, "Naked"on the lid and "Buck" in the crease and sometimes "Hustle" in the outer V to define my lid. The only issue I have is that I don't use all the colours. I rarely use dark, smokey colours on my eyes and I find that I don't really have a use for "Creep" and "Gunmetal". I might in the future.. but for now, not so much.

I do think that the Naked Palette is well worth the hype. The texture and pigmentation on these shadows are such good quality and it shows through how they apply and last. You can really create so many different looks due to the range of light to dark shadows. I do love this palette and I have high expectations for the other Naked Palettes by Urban Decay.

What is your favourite combination from the Naked Palette?

Essie: Bachelorette Bash

Essie's "Bachelorette Bash" is a bright creamy fuchsia/magenta colour and is apart of the 25th Anniversary Collection. It applies like a dream and the end finish is very glossy and I would say it lasts a pretty long time {I can't give exact dates because I always manage to chip my nails within 24 hours D: }. Essie nail polishes have really nice colour pay off and this particular colour wasn't streaky at all. Two coats makes it opaque but I always apply three just for safety.

I bought this not long ago and I think it's a lovely colour for summer because it's so bright and it makes my hands look extremely tanned which is nice. The colour in the bottle doesn't give the shade justice because it's absolutely gorgeous on. I bought it just thinking it was another shade of pink, NONO I was wrong. It has become my ultimate favourite nail polish colour {aside from mermaid blue}.

What do you think of this colour?

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Polish

I picked up the Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Polish in the shade "Bleu Water" the 40% off cosmetics sale at Priceline a couple of weeks ago. It claims to have silicone gel texture which makes application very easy and gives that gel salon finish.

 {taken one day after painting nails}
"Bleu Water"

The bottle is so unique which was what drew me to it in priceline and it has textured patches on the tall lid so you can twist it open. As soon as I saw this colour, I knew that I wanted it because I don't own this type of nail polish colour in my collection. It's light blue and it's definitely a fun one to wear now that it's summer in Australia.

One of the reasons I really like this nail polish is because the brush expands to a fan-like shape and fits the shape of your nail so effortlessly and saves a lot of time by painting your nail in one swipe {hence the name "1 Seconde"}. I was really impressed with how pigmented it was with one coat but I decided to do another 2 coats to make sure the colour would last and not chip.

The bottle claims that the nail polish dries in 50 seconds but I don't think thats true. It does dry pretty quickly compared to other nail polishes but not 50 seconds fast. I would wait around 2-3 minutes before applying another layer. I used my OPI base coat and Revlon Colorstay top coat and it lasted about 2-3 days which is pretty good for me because I somehow always manage to chip my nails within the first 24 hours of wearing it.

Overall I do like this nail polish and I can't wait to wear it more in summer. Bourjois don't have a big range of nail polish colours however they have some unusual colours that aren't available in other brand displays like revlon and rimmel etc. It retails for $12AUD which is the average price of nail polishes at priceline.

Have you tried Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Polish?
If so, what are your thoughts?
