Maybelline Express Nail Polish Remover

I'm someone that likes to paint my nails 2-4 times a week {Is that too extreme?} and I needed something to quickly remove my nail polish. Normally, I just use ordinary nail polish remover and cotton wool which was getting on my nerves because it kept ruining the next manicure with little bits of fluff. Also, I would go through so many bottles of nail polish remover it was ridiculous. I decided it was time to find a solution and the Maybelline Express Nail Polish Remover was the answer to my prayers.

It's so simple and easy because all you have to do is dip your nail in and swish it around a couple of times and then it's done. You have to be careful with how hard you press your nail because the liquid can travel upwards your finger which is not a major problem for me - just a little flaw I picked out that some people might be uncomfortable with. But that doesn't stop me from using this product because it actually works so well. I must mention that the smell pretty strong and it does linger which can be a problem for some people but that is to be expected with any type of nail polish remover.

I can't really comment too much on the lasting power of the tub but there seems to be a lot of liquid absorbed into the sponge. I have used this nail polish for about three months and it's still going strong with the exception of trying glitter nail polish which was just a complete disaster! The glitter nail polishes were damaging the sponge on the inside and everything was a mess so it's a no-go with glitter polishes I'm afraid.

Overall, I really love this product! I know it is similar to the Bourjois one but I could never see that one on display at the shops. I'm happy that this product wasn't expensive and I have gotten SO many uses out of it rather than buying a new bottle once every couple of weeks. Definitely worth it in my books.

Have you tried these innovative little tubs before?

The Nerd Files #2 | Perth Comic Con 2014 Haul

I know this is a little different to what I would usually post but I don't mind sharing a little bit of me and my personality through the little things that I obsess over. The weekend that just went by was Perth's Annual Comic Con and you could say that I was a little excited. {Next week is going to be even more exciting so stay tuned for that one ;) hehe}. This was the second year I've been to comic con and I can definitely say that this years one was WAYYY better than the 2013 comic con. This year was so much bigger and better as they had more cool stores and gaming opportunities with more guests to see. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos at the event but I wanted to share something with you thus this post with all the goodies I picked up!

The first thing that caught my eye was the X-RAY AND VAV shirt that I have been waiting my entire LIFE for!! The shirt is a reference to my favourite youtube gamers and I have been bugging mum to get it for me for a while now so when I saw it hanging on the wall from the corner of my eye I almost had tears running down my eyes . Words can't describe how happy I am with this shirt, this was definitely the best purchase of the day in my opinion! I also picked up this awesome VS poster from the same store which is another reference to the same youtube channel "Let's Play". I just love the drawing style!

I am a poster goddess. I spent a while looking at every stalls artwork and these three were worthy enough for a spot on my walls. I really wish I got the business cards of the authors stores so I could share with you but it was so crowded so I grabbed my posters and ran so they wouldn't get crease marks {don't worry, they all survived}. The little one I picked up on the second day and it's artwork based on this beautiful video game called "Journey". Absolutely stunning game! The others are of the BBC shows Merlin and Doctor Who which are pretty freaking awesome if I may say so myself. I really love the quality of the pictures too!

CUPS! Random choices I know! At places like comic con you want to buy almost all the things and most of them are impulse purchases. The Doctor Who Tardis Mug is actually the coolest thing ever but when I bought it home I was like "wat?!" I must admit it looks super rad on my shelf though!! The other cup is BMO from Adventure Time and it's so cute so how could I not get it?! I always have to get up early for uni and sometimes get really disappointed that I can't drink my tea so I have found a solution! wooo!

I also picked up these cool badges that have Merlin and Journey references. What I need badges for? I don't know, they were just so awesome that I just couldn't leave them there! I also walked past the stall that were selling disney plushies about a million times and I just caved and bought Flounder from The Little Mermaid because it is my favourite disney film!

And that was a rather large haul from Comic Con! Sorry if it wasn't you're type of average post, but I'd rather post about the little things that make me extremely happy and the nerd in me wants to share that with you!

Dirty Works Coconut Scrub

I was in coles the other day and decided to check out the beauty aisle and came across the Dirty Works range. I have seen some bloggers mention and review some products from this brand and I wanted to try them out. I picked up the Dirty Works Coconut Scrub because I thought it smelled better than the main range scrub.

The whole range of Dirty Works products have the most adorable packaging. The main range is blue and the purple range has a coconut scent. The products have a retro-chic feel to it and it reminds me of the packaging of Soap & Glory however they shouldn't be compared based on the packaging. The tube stands on the lid which I like because it means that I won't waste any product because the scrub travels down naturally.

The body scrub is a thick, gel-like consistency that contains chunky pecan shell granules which removes dead skin and almond oil to moisturise. It isn't JAM-PACKED with pecan shell granules but enough to do the job. I find it easier to use scrubs in the shower because I have sensitive skin however if you want a more harsh body scrub experience, use them on dry skin.  As soon as I rinsed my legs, I could feel how soft they were and I couldn't believe that it worked so quickly. When I woke up the next morning, my legs were still soft.

This body scrub has a coconut, tropical scent that does smell artificial but it's something that I can get over but I can understand if it doesn't appeal to everyone. The smell isn't overpowering and doesn't linger around which is good because then I can use a moisturiser that smells good and not worry about the scents mixing.

Overall, I don't think I will repurchase this product because I wasn't a fan of the jelly-like texture as it just so slimy and I know there are better body scrubs out there.

Have you tried any Dirty Works Products?

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush

Do you ever have those moments in the store where you just spontaneously buy something just for the heck of it? This was one of these moments. I went to a Priceline that I never go to and saw the Physicians Formula display and saw the cuteness and was drawn in. I have mentioned the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush {what an absolute mouthful} before on my blog and I wanted to give my review about it before I forgot about it completely.

The packaging does feel a little cheap and plasticky but the blush does feel secure underneath the clear plastic lid. The blush comes with it's own benefit-esque brush which has it's own compartment underneath the blush making the whole product unnecessarily bulky but hey, can't really slay them for having helpful intentions.

The blush itself has an array of different tones, shaped into little hearts which you swirl together to create a very natural look. This blush is very thin and is sheer even with a heavy hand, which might not necessarily be a bad thing for those who prefer a simple but not over the top flush to the face. In the pan the blush consists of glitter but it's so finely milled that it doesn't look like a disco ball on your face, it definitely has a more of a satin-type finish. I do find this blush a little hard to blend out so I would recommend using a fluffy brush to get rid of any lines left over on the cheeks.

I do like this like blush as it gives me a decent glow to the face, as far as making me happy? I don't know.. The hearts make me happy does that count? I'll use it because I have it but I don't think it's worth it for people who are blushaholics and know what they like and want from a good quality blush.

Have you tried Physicians Formula blushes before?

O.P.I Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies

This O.P.I. set called the Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies is another collection O.P.I has launched with taking inspiration from one of the most popular disney cartoon characters - Minnie Mouse. I received this set for Christmas last year from my mum as she knew that I wanted it as it is disney related {anyone a disney fan?} and the colours are so lovely. I have never really dabbled too much in O.P.I. nail polishes because they are quiet expensive so all the ones I do own were all gifted to me by friends and family and I really do enjoy them.

The set came with four mini O.P.I. bottles which are 3.75ml each and I can't even describe how cute these bottles are. What I really love about this set is that because the bottles are so small, you can sample colours that you are interested in and decided whether you like it and if you want to commit to a full size bottle.

Now the fun stuff, the colours! There is a mixture of pinks and reds which ties in with the Minnie Mouse colour scheme so well.

"A Definite Moust-Have" is a bright fuschia creme

"Magazine Cover Mouse" is a berry toned liquid sand formula

"Chic from Ears to Tail" is a bubblegum pink creme

"Innie Minnie Mighty Bow" is a crimson pearl

I do love all the shades as they are all very bold and classic. I was a little disappointed with "Chic from Ears to Tail" because it was so sheer that I had to apply maybe 4ish coats to get it opaque but it is such a nice colour that I don't mind. I have never tried O.P.I.'s liquid sand formula before so I was really eager to try "Magazine Cover Mouse"and I really like it even though some days I like to use a top coat over it to make it smooth and shiny.

Overall the Couture de Minnie: Runway Minnies was a major hit in my books. Good quality nail polish mixed with a little disney what more could you want? My mum bought it from Myre however I'm not sure of which stores that still stock it but it wouldn't hurt to have a look next time you're there.

What's your favourite collection from O.P.I?

Collective Drugstore Haul

Over the last couple of months I have been picking up some bits and bobs at Priceline and Chemist Warehouse {ahhheemandthepriceline40%offsale}. I managed to get quite a few things and I'm rather happy that I haven't gone overboard {which usually happens let's be real}.

I have picked up quite a lot of products that go on my eyelids for some strange reason.  I bought one of the Maybelline Color Tattoo's in the shade "05 Too Cool" which is a pearly white eyeshadow base. I thought getting an eyeshadow base in a whitish shade might make the shadows stand out a little more, if not I will use it in the inner corner of my eyes as an eye brightener.

Next I decided to buy some essential products that I trust and love. First up was the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser which is my all time favourite under eye concealer because it actually covers my dark circles. And then I also bought another Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner which is my favourite eyeliner on the planet and I needed to restock that one.

I also saw a new display for the Maybelline Master Smokey crayon thing which is supposed to create smokey eyes- we will see how that goes down, I got a charcoal colour instead of black because black smokey eyes are way too intense for me. I'd rather keep my liquid liners intensely black so I picked up the L'oreal Super Liner Blackbuster which is a super thick marker eyeliner that I wanted to try out and I have a review of this baby coming soon!

As for lips I picked up something I have never tried before which is the Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon in the shade "03 Orange Punch" and I really like the texture of it because it isn't too thick and it glides on so nicely. Next up on the list was a Maybelline Color Whisper in the shade "Who Wore It Red-er" which I'm excited to wear because it's such a deep red in the tube but swatches ever so nicely {plus the formula is A+}.

I feel like I'm becoming a blushaholic with the amount of blushes I'm buying lately! {ohwell} I picked up a Bourjois Baked Blush in the gorgeous shade "54 Rose Frisson". I always think pink blushes look the same so hopefully this one is different to the ones I already own. And the last thing I picked up was the Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in the shade "Marmalade" which is a burn't orange which has been my favourite colour for summer.

Have you tried anything that was in this haul?
What are your thoughts?

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Reto Glam Mascara

Last year I mentioned in a favourites post that I was going to do a review on the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara and I just kept putting it off because the mascara and I had a love-hate relationship going on. It was always on my mind to write this post and after having such a long time to test the product out, I thought it was time to give a review.

The mascara tube is black with white circles which is so retro and ties in well with the product and what it's designed for. The only thing about most of the Rimmel Mascaras is that I find them unnecessarily big and bulky and the lid is way difficult to hold because is is wide and short.

The Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara separates, lengthens and gives volume to create a 60's wide-eye effect. The brush is in a hourglass shape which is designed to coat all your lashes in one coat without any clumps. I do feel like it does get all my lashes when I wiggle the wand through them the first time. I find it easy to get an even application and apply extra coats if necessary. I normally just do one coat because I can see a big difference from my normal lashes with the first coat but there is a small issue with this mascara clumping if you're not careful.

"With" is with ONE coat of Mascara

Towards the end of the day it does smudge all over the place because it isn't waterproof however there is another Retro Glam Mascara on the market which is waterproof and I wish I was aware of it at the time I bought mine. I understand this mascara won't be everyones cup of tea and even I dislike it sometimes because it irritates the crap out my eyes. Unfortunately I will not repurchase this product in the future because of that reason but I might try the waterproof one out and see if it's any different.

Have you tried the Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara?
I would love to hear your thoughts!
