T'was The Christmas Lipstick

A red lip is always a must when it comes to the holiday season in my opinion. Something about a red lip is classy while also shouting "CHRISTMAS" from the rooftops. I thought it was time to treat myself to a high end red lipstick for the holidays, that wasn't MAC's Ruby Woo.

The release of the NARS Audacious Lipstick collection caught my eyes however every time I went into Mecca Cosmetica, they didn't have any shades that appealed to me that were a real stand out. That was of course, until I saw this one lonely {but badass} red lipstick in an array of pinks and nudes.

 Sorry for the incredibly bad iPhone photo!

NARS "Rita" is a beautiful scarlet red with warm undertones. I think it is the perfect red! Bold statement, why yes, but bold lips? Even more yes. The lipstick has a creamy formula and is incredibly opaque in one swipe. I can't comment on feathering as every time I go for a red lip, I just have to use a lip liner {The Rimmel one if you were wondering} due to fear of clown mouth. But it has a beautiful stain to it and slightly fades in the centre of the lips after a a big meal. It wears really nicely and it feels incredibly comfortable on the lips. I wore this lipstick on Christmas and I got SO many compliments on it!! I loved pairing this red lipstick with plain one wash eyeshadow and a simple cat flick! puuuurfect-o

Also, big shout out to the packaging of this lipstick collection. It's soooo different to the normal NARS matte packaging which is a lovely change. The lid is also magnetic which makes the lipstick feel even more luxurious.

What lipstick did you wear on Christmas Day?

New Base? Oh, My!

I never switch up my foundation routine in the almost 2 years that I have discovered my trusty clinique saviours. My skin has gotten WAY better since then so I decided to treat myself to a whole new foundation routine! The buzz about the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation started which sparked my interest! A foundation that has a natural, glowy finish while having some sort of coverage even though the name is totally misleading?

I'm intrigued.

I'm kind of fussy when it comes to foundations. I like it to be medium coverage but also being buildable. Nars Sheer Glow is definitely medium buildable maybe even more on the sheerer side maybe? Depends how you apply it I guess! But anyone who tells you that this foundation is full coverage is kidding themselves {or has amazing skin so it feels heavier on them}. The lady who I spoke to in store recommened that this foundation works best with your fingers. Now I have tried with every beauty tool I possibly own and applying it with your fingers is really the best way to get it on your face without streaks and thining the foundation out.

Those who have previously read my blog, you may know that I suffer from general redness and hyperpigmentation scars that are slowly fading due to a new skincare routine. My skin has gotten way better and I decided to whip the Sheer Glow out for a test run and it does a great job at providing an even base without any redness. However, my scars still peek through so I decided to also buy the Nars Radient Creamy Concealer which works like a dream with the Sheer Glow. This concealer also does a pretty good job at covering the panda eyes without creasing which is just heaven in a tube!{side note. another concealer that works just as well is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer!! amazing stuff!!}.

I have been using this founation every day for the last 4 weeks and I am in love! I have normal to borderline dry skin {at the mo} and it doesn't stick to any dry patches that I am aware of and it lasts a while without fading. To do a minimal face for the day, I go in with some powder, one wash eyeshadow, some mascara and lipbalm and boom. done.

I would love to know your favourite foundation for your lazy face!! And if you have NARS Sheer Glow, how do you apply it to get a "I woke up like dis" face?

NARS Limited Edition Blush: Final Cut

Whilst in Melbourne I took a not so quick visit to Mecca Maxima and was on the hunt for another NARS blush. I had no idea where to start because I'm terrible at picking shades so I asked one of the ladies to help me out. She took me over to a display which had some new products from NARS called the Final Cut Collection which had some beautiful shades of pink in both blushes and lip crayons.

I picked up the blush called "Final Cut" and it's a matte peachy-coral colour which is something that I don't really lean towards when choosing a blush, I'm more of a pink gal but hey I wanted to try something new and not get something similar to what I already own. At first I wasn't sure about the colour but then the lady at Mecca Maxima tried a little on my face and I instantly loved it. It's very sheer compared to other NARS blushes which I love because it gives a flushed look to the face and it is very build-able. I've never owned a matte blush and I like it so far because I find it more natural looking than blushes that have shimmer in it.

I really like the colour of this blush and I tend to wear it more with a red lip because they compliment each other so well. The Final Cut Blush Collection has four beautiful shades and they are available online at Mecca Cosmetica.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the Final Cut Collection

December Favourites 2013

Since I did a post on my favourite beauty products of the whole of 2013, I didn't get to show you the beauty products that I have been loving in the month of December.

Nars Blush {Orgasm}
It's no secret that nearly every beauty blogger has or wants this shimmery peachy-pink blush. I finally got myself a Nars blush last month and I have been wearing every day since I bought it and love it.

Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush
This brush is alright for blending shadows in the crease of your eye but because the bristles are so dense I use it more to blend in concealers and they do a pretty good job at concealing under eye circles and blemishes.

Benefit's Erase Paste
I have serious panda eyes and I heard Zoella mention this product in one of her videos and it seemed to work on her so I thought I would use this and I love it. Its a creamy texture and you only need the slightest amount. I use this under my eyes but it can also be used for blemishes that are pretty difficult to hide.

Maybelline Total Clean Eye & Lip Makeup Remover
I used to use makeup wipes to take off my eye makeup and it used to hurt and tug at my eyes and my eyelashes kept falling out. Then I saw this makeup remover and decided to try it out. It's cheap and it works pretty good so it checks all the boxes.

Carmex Moisture Plus {Pink}
This lip balm is SO GOOD! Its a tinted lip balm and I'm pretty sure there are some other colours to choose from and they do a great job at keeping my lips moisturised whilst giving them a nice colour that lasts.

And these are the beauty products that I have been giving extra love to this month!
What have you been loving in the month of December?
